You don't know community once you see these neck of the woods.
Astoria is immersed with a strong an Arabic and Greek community. Both having their food, clothes, architecture and tradition engraved in the area.
How to get to Astoria
You could take the N train to get to Astoria, but you could also take the 18 bus there as well, or take the F train to Steinway.
Architecture and Art
when going to Astoria you'll notice that the buildings have the same patterns on them with similar colors. It gives off an Arabic architecture style. However, there are many shops and stores that will have paintings of houses and building originally from Greece. Just walking around the area will let you discover what there is in store.
Food and restaurants
There are a lot of foods and restaurants more Greeks then Arabic when you first start going into Astoria but you'll find most Arabic restaurants in Steinway. There are a wide range of food that they sell. There are a lot of cafes in the area from Greece, Morocco, Algeria, etc.
Clothing and accessories
There are a lot of stores that provide clothing from their countries. There are also a lot of stores that sell jewelry like necklaces, earrings and rings. A lot of them seem pretty heavy but it's nice to look at. There is also a traditional clothing that's sold around the area like shoes, long dresses, hijabs, and more.
