The New York Transit Museum is committed to preserving the stories of mass transportation such as workers who labored in the tunnels over a century ago, communities that have greatly transformed, and the technology and design that run the transportation system that makes the MTA work everyday. Visitors can board the old train cars, sit at the wheel of a city buses, step through loads of old turnstiles, to explore and engage in the changing exhibits of the cultural, social and technological history New York city subway system.


These are it's visiting hours:

Tuesday-Friday: 10am – 4pm Saturday & Sunday: 11am – 5pm Closed Mondays and major holidays


And it's tickets are:

Adults: $10 Children (2-17): $5 Seniors 62+: $5, Free on Wednesdays

Visitors with Disabilities: $5 with MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard, MTA Reduced-Fare Easy Pay Card, Access-a-Ride Card, Able-Ride Card, Para-transit Card, or Suffolk County Accessible Transportation (SCAT) Card.


Keep in mind that this museum does give free tickets (as stated on their website) to those who are:

MTA Employees

Active duty military personnel

Cool Culture family pass holders

members of institutions worldwide that participate in the ASTC and Time Travelers programs.
